2020 Accomplishments
BOARD of DIRECTORS
All Board members continued their governance of the organization during the Pandemic and participated in programs and events
- All Board members participated in Coalition Strategic Planning Sessions
- All Board members participate on the SAFE Glen Cove Coalition Committees
- 3 Board members participated in Shed the Med’s Event
STAFF
- All Life Skills Training (LST) staff and Executive Director participated in LST Zoom instruction training to continue the program during the Pandemic
- All SAFE staff participated in mandated Sexual Harassment Training conducted by City of Glen Cove HR Director
FUNDING
- SAFE has sustained an increase in Community Development Block Grant funds to support the Community Walk In program and additional funds for 2020 for Pandemic community support services
- The City of Glen Cove will continue SAFE’s budget enhancement to continue “Keeping Glen Cove SAFE” opioid prevention awareness campaign
DONATIONS
- SAFE received donations from Board members and staff
SAFE PROGRAMS/SERVICES
Community members and school district students continued to be served during the Pandemic via telehealth and zoom on-line platform
- The Community Walk In Program: 240 individuals were served (As of December 30th)
- The Employee Assistance Program (EAP): 76 employees were served (As of December 30th)
- Elementary and Middle School Life Skills Training Program (LST): 87 youth participated in the program
- Bi-Lingual Parent Life Skills Training Program (LST): 40 parents participated in the program- Parent University implemented to learn effective parenting strategies when faced with difficult children during the Pandemic

Through the Pandemic the Coalition continued to implement the following environmental strategies and provide alcohol and substance use prevention, intervention and education to community members and school district students via zoom on-line platform

- Weekly submissions to SAFE Website/dedicated Opioid Page/Glen Cove PATCH and Facebook regarding opioid epidemic
- Dedicated Vape Page “Vaping Facts and Myths”
- Dedicated COVID-19 Resource and research Page created to provide guidance and increase awareness of the Pandemic, up to date developments and practical approaches for coping; Educate the community regarding COVID’s direct correlation to increased alcohol, substance use and mental health issues
